Super Visa
Most visitors can come to Canada on a visitor visa and can stay up to a maximum of six months, however, as of December 01, 2011, parents and grand parents of a Canadian citizen or permanent residents can stay in Canada for a period of up to 2 years under the “Super Visa” category. The Super Visa is multiple-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years. Below are the eligibility requirements that must be met in order to apply for a Super-visa.
Who can Apply for a Super Visa?
To be eligible for Super visa an applicant must be:
- A parent or grand parent of a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
- Must reside outside Canada when filing the application.
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a parent or grand parent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
- Have a signed letter from a child or grand child which who invites you to Canada, must include a promise to support financially during the period of stay, number of people in a household along with a proof of permanent resident status and or a Canadian citizenship status.
- Must have a proof of medical insurance of a minimum of $100,000 CAD paid in full and valid of at least a period of one year from the date of original entry.
- Must be admissible to enter Canada.
- Must take an immigration medical exam.
- Must meet other certain conditions such as ties to your home country, purpose of visit, family and finances, along with the economic stability on your home country.
Other requirements:
The child or a grandchild who invites you must also meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) and must provide the documents such as Notice of Assessments (NOAs), T4s, Employment verification letter, paystubs and bank statements to ensure eligibility for MNI.
